About Us
Sterling Andrews Engineering is based in Jacksonville, Florida. Our staff brings experience in Industrial Refrigeration (including ammonia), Pressure and Piping System Design, Condensation Abatement, Process Cooling, Code Compliance, and many other areas to bear to provide solutions to the engineering needs of our clients. As a company, we understand that the principles governing fluid flow, heat transfer, piping, and equipment design and configuration apply from the smallest skid-mounted system to large industrial piping and equipment installations.
Robert A. Sterling, our principal, is licensed as a Professional Engineer in many States, is registered with the NCEES, and has extensive experience in fluid systems and heat transfer, is a current and former voting member of industry code and standards development bodies, and has served as the Engineer of Record for numerous projects over the course of his career. He is a graduate of the University of Florida with a BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering. He approaches engineering from a standpoint of first understanding a system from its fundamental principles, allowing a detailed knowledge of which elements to select, and which to avoid, for any particular design. Almost all of the engineering software tools used by Sterling Andrews engineering were developed by Mr. Sterling, with an emphasis on understanding the "why and how" of each portion of the process of developing a design. This provides us with the ability to not only document engineering rationale for designs and design recommendations, but to provide insights on why we make the design choices we do. At Sterling Andrews, we are committed to providing the best engineering available, and we strive to be the leader in every market we serve.
